Forte dei Marmi Shopping Avenue

Forte dei Marmi Shopping Avenue

Forte dei Marmi is located about 20 minutes by car from Viareggio. This splendid town, overlooking the sea, named after the Fortino, a XVIII century fortress built from Leopoldo I to protect the marble blocks of the Apuan Alps that were here stored before shipping.

With the rise of seaside tourism, the town imposed itself as holiday resort and shopping centre, becoming the most important of the Versilia.

Forte dei Marmi is today a famous and appreciated luxury shopping centre: along its main streets are placed boutiques of the international fashion as Prada, Cèline, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and many others. The area included between Piazza Garibaldi, Via Roma, Via Mazzini and Piazza Dante is the beating heart of Forte. Here you can find clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, gourmet and handicraft products. Prices may not be for everyone but it’s still cheerful and lively venues ideal for strolling, window shopping and eating ice cream.

Famous and appreciated in the same way is the Market of Forte dei Marmi that is held every Wednesday and, after Easter, even every Sunday. On the market stalls you can find some real occasions without sacrifying quality. Everything that’s on sale is in fact exclusively Made in Italy and often signed from the same stylists of the boutiques of the main streets.
