Viareggio

Viareggio

Hotel Vittoria is placed in the very centre of Viareggio, really close to the seaside Avenue (the Passeggiata or Viale a mare) and just in front of the pine forest. From the hotel you can easily visit the city centre, both on foot or by bike. The biggest hang out in Viareggio is for sure the Passeggiata, where all the most important events (as the New Year’s Eve party and the Carnival) are taking place. Flanked on a side with the historical bathing establishments and protected by a long and green flowerbed just beside the bicycle path, the Passeggiata is a pleasant road with shops, restaurants and cafés, getting till the harbour area. Don’t miss a stroll in the marina, facing the sea and usual destination for a family walk, but also for young people and couples. Strolling along the streets of Viareggio you’ll notice the variety of Liberty style buildings, enriching the city centre and typical of the Tirreno’s Pearl (as Viareggio is also named). Inside the city centre you can find new streets and squares, ideal place both for strolls and for shopping, as Via Battisti and Via Fratti, where you will find a real natural market. Especially during the summertime, Viareggio is animated by every kind of events and shows, with cultural exhibitions and children’s activities. Night time in Viareggio won’t leave you cold. Viareggio and Versilia are the main districts of the movida in Tuscany, so much that young people are coming here every night from Pisa, Lucca and Florence, in order to spend the night in the well known pubs, night clubs and discotheques. The Versilia, chosen also nowadays by VIPs coming from all the country, was truly prominent during the sixties, as described in several movies that were set in this area.
