Viareggio Carnival
The Carnival of Viareggio 2016 will start on Sunday 7 February and will end on Saturday 5 March with the night parade, the announcement of the winners and fireworks on the harbor. Every Sunday on the promenade you’ll can see the parade of the floats, symbols of Viareggio around the world.
The Carnival of Viareggio is a great festival held every year since 1873, born as carriages parade is arrived at the 139° edition! The particular atmosphere you can breath in town during the carnival period involves adults and kids, tourists and visitors in a spiral of colors, music and shows.
The main theme of the event is political and social satire: the floats usually depict a parody of international politicians, shomen and showgirls. The papier-mâché floats are the main protagonists of the carnival. Up to 25 mt high and with some spectacular moving effects enchant adults and kids in every parade. Together with the floats parade on the promenade are present even hundreds of costumed characters (men, women and kids), dancers, bands and animation groups.
